New features and meaningful improvements to OnlyMove, from the first opening trainer to today.
Choose a familiar board appearance and interaction style from Board style in the account menu. Switch between Lichess and Chess.com styles across all boards and previews, including training and Explorer. Changes apply immediately, and your preference follows your account across devices.
Choose which openings receive automatic mistake analysis, independently for White and Black. Add an opening family or a specific variation from settings or a skipped game; selecting no openings turns automatic analysis off for that color. All games still contribute to training and flag repertoire deviations, and you can analyze any skipped game on demand.
The Explorer now lets you move backward and forward one move at a time, while browsing or editing. At a fork, choose the continuation or the path that brought you here. Your choices are remembered as you explore the line.
PGN imports now preserve written comments alongside your course moves. Read and edit them in the Explorer, include them when exporting, and choose to show them during training. Different explanations from imported chapters stay together, so you can keep the reasoning behind a move as well as the move itself.
Import a repertoireUse the back and forward buttons to revisit moves in your current training line, including moves played automatically. Saved arrows and highlights appear on the board. Return to the current position to carry on from where you paused.
Finished your scheduled work? Keep practicing now flows from one exercise to the next without stopping. Practice ahead on lines you have already started learning, while your saved learning progress and review dates stay unchanged. Your practice time and accuracy still count toward your activity.
The dashboard brings together daily and lifetime training totals, accuracy, time spent, and streaks. The activity calendar distinguishes days you trained from days you cleared all new and due moves, so both showing up and finishing your work are visible.
Look up a Lichess or Chess.com player directly from Games, even if you have never played them. Browse their openings, move frequencies, and results on the board. Reopen recent players, load older games, or check for new ones as you prepare.
Reached the end of a line in the Explorer? Suggest continuation uses master games to help you extend it. You can also extend or shorten suggestions from your game reviews, then review the line before adding it to your repertoire. A Lichess connection is required.
OnlyMove now supports and is tested with repertoires of up to 10,000 user moves. Faster saves and training performance improvements reduce pauses between rounds, especially with large repertoires or slower connections.
Read about the performance improvementsMark a repertoire deviation as “Not a real mistake” when it was a slip rather than a forgotten move. When the affected positions have not been reviewed again, OnlyMove can undo that game’s effect on their review schedule and remove it from your mistake queue.
Import a PGN with multiple chapters, choose which ones belong in your course, and preview how many moves are new or already present. Color hints help separate White and Black repertoires. For lines you already know, skip teaching and go straight to review.
See how importing worksKeep openings in separate named courses and choose one to browse, edit, learn, or review. Shared positions keep the same learning progress across courses, and you can still train your whole repertoire together.
Install OnlyMove from your browser on a phone, tablet, or computer and open it in its own app window.
Installation guideThe app is now available in English, German, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Ukrainian. Choose your language from the account menu.
Build a starter repertoire from your own games. OnlyMove suggests lines drawn from your play, and you review them before saving and starting training.
Find opening mistakes in your synced games, get a suggested improvement, and add the line to your repertoire. Mark games as reviewed to keep track of what still needs attention.
From a game to your repertoireThe Explorer brings your lines together on one board, including positions reached through different move orders. Browse, edit, and review changes before saving. Import and export PGN to move lines between OnlyMove and other tools.
Connect Lichess and Chess.com accounts to compare your games with your preparation. Moves you remember reinforce your learning; forgotten repertoire moves come back for review.
How games feed trainingTraining now uses FSRS, an adaptive spaced-repetition algorithm, to schedule each move’s next review based on your answers. Forgotten moves return sooner, while familiar opening moves can play automatically so you can focus on positions that need practice.
Explore alternatives with engine evaluations and master-game statistics while working on your repertoire.
Daily training totals and review indicators help you see what needs another look.
Create and edit opening lines, add arrows and highlights, and focus training on a chosen opening.
Practice opening lines on an interactive board, with your repertoire and training progress saved to your account.
